Speaking of, looks like the DIY spirit is well and alive in our children too. Recently our daughter had her ears pierced and needed a place to store and display all her new earrings so she came up with the idea of making an earring tree. We drew one up based on a picture she saw and cut it on a laser cutter. Need something? Make it!

Liquid State Brewery opens its doors

This past summer we had the opportunity to consult on the design of the new Liquid State Brewery in Ithaca, NY. The name was specifically chosen by the owners to reflect their science backgrounds, so you know, since we special in STEM environments the Liquid State project fit right into the HDS mission. Congrats to Jamey and Ben, wishing you tons of liquid success!

Connections

Purdue University’s senior class of interior design left a lasting impression this week with their senior exhibition titled Connections. Work exhibited included a workplace project in Los Angeles, a high school learning commons in Massachusetts and a restaurant in Indianapolis. The exhibition was viewed by industry professionals, academics, family and friends from around the state of Indiana and greater Chicago.

Nomination to the Bruce Goff Chair of Creative Architecture at OU

Wendy recently returned from a visit to the University of Oklahoma where she was nominated to the Bruce Goff Chair of Creative Architecture. This honor included a university-wide lecture speaking about her research in the design of makerspaces for higher education and a gallery exhibition with OU Assistant Professor of Architecture, Bob Pavlik. As invited guest lecturer she was given tours of local creative spaces and Goff architectural treasures.

Purdue University – Art and Design Faculty Exhibition

Wendy’s makerspace lamps and objects were exhibited in the Patti & Rusty Rueff Galleries at Purdue University November 14- 22. The exhibit, titled THREE: The Magic Number pays homage to designers’ obsession with grouping objects in threes based on brevity and rhythm.
