Hello! I’ve had a passion for architecture and interior design my whole life through. I’ve been particularly fascinated with the human behaviorial aspect and how well designed buildings and homes impact feelings and activities. My practice areas include residential but I have a non-residential expertise in the design of learning spaces including K-12 schools and public libraries. As a professor of interior design at Purdue University, I conducted a program of research in the design of makerspaces and active learning classrooms. Some of my findings have been shared at international conferences, national lectures and are published in academic and industry journals. Understanding how classroom design impacts learning, especially for children, is very important to me.
My portfolio of work over the last 25+ years spans from San Diego, California to Portland, Maine. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from UW-Madison and a master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan. I’ve been NCIDQ certified since 2003.
Residential Services
My residential services range from simple paint selection to complete new home design including floor plans, custom built-ins, window specifications, fixtures, finishes, lights and more. My personal design style is mid-century inspired, but I work with clients in the styles that bring them the most joy. I especially enjoy details that bring the outside in for optimal connection with nature and also thoughtfully placed focal points to make every angle of the home interesting and beautiful. I’ve taught color theory at the university level for many years and use this as a foundation in all my work. No project is too big or small!
